This week marks the 10th annual National Apprenticeship Week (NAW). Over the years, NAW has helped to match employers with apprentices to fast-track careers and help individuals reach their full potential. To join the festivities, we’re celebrating an apprentice of our own; meet Zack Ingram.

Having joined us as a labourer, Zack is now employed as an Apprentice Carpenter and is completing his Diploma in Wood Occupations at City College, Brighton and Hove. The course includes first and second fix carpentry, enabling Zack to become expert in both structural projects and finishing work.

Zack recognises the benefits of attending the course, saying,

“My apprenticeship is helping me learn carpentry and gain experience that I wouldn’t be able to do if I wasn’t working on site. I am really enjoying being taught by very experienced tradespeople and being given the chance to take my time and get things right.”

And it’s not just Zack benefitting from the apprenticeship scheme. Here at Nutshell, hiring apprentices is perfect, to be able to enable our on-site people to achieve their full potential is the best possible outcome for both parties. Apprenticeships allow our team to learn all the skills they need, both in the classroom and practically on site, providing them with a great career start.

Nutshell’s ethos is based on service a quality coupled to high levels of respect we have for our clients’ homes. Apprenticeships enable us to build teams of skilled craftspeople who carry our values in every project with which they are involved.
